A New Chapter in Kaş: Our Five-Year Journey Toward a Simpler Life
From Istanbul’s Chaos to a Different Vision of Life
Istanbul shaped much of our adult lives. We worked, commuted, and lived within the city’s endless rhythm. Yet beneath the noise and rush, a quiet thought kept returning: “There must be another way to live.”
At first, that idea felt abstract—more like a longing than a plan. But as years passed, the vision sharpened, growing stronger with every conversation we had late at night about slowing down, breathing deeper, and finding a place that felt like home.
The Day Kaş Found Us
One summer holiday, we sat by the sea in Kaş. The horizon stretched endlessly, the light shimmered across the water, and in that moment, without words, we both knew: “This is where we could belong.”
That wasn’t the day we moved—but it was the day our dream finally had a name.
Choosing the Right Time
Life rarely offers perfect timing. Responsibilities, work, and uncertainty asked us to wait. And so we did. For five patient years, the dream lingered, quietly waiting for its turn.
Then, only weeks before our baby was born, we decided it was time. With a one-month-old in our arms and boxes filled with pieces of our old life, we set out on the road south—toward a future we had imagined for so long.
Beginning Again with a Newborn
Moving to a new town with a newborn is not easy. The sleepless nights, the exhaustion, the emotional weight—it all tested us. But there was warmth too, in knowing that this challenge was of our choosing, and that it was leading us to a life more aligned with who we wanted to be.
In Kaş, our days slowly found a new rhythm. Between baby naps and endless cups of tea on our small terrace, we rediscovered ourselves in the embrace of nature.
Where Dreams and Courage Meet
Chasing a dream demands courage—but also patience, faith, and the willingness to listen to your heart even when the path seems uncertain. We chose to listen.
Today, as sunlight filters through our window and I watch our son play beside me, I feel only one certainty: We are where we are meant to be.
